Field Training Program

New Employee Training (NET) program

All new employees are placed in the NET program, regardless of their previous experience. It allows us to teach all new staff members our particular way of doing what we do.   All new employees, while in the NET program, are evaluated daily by their senior partner.  The NET program is divided into three stages.

In the first stage the new employee is allowed to attend on stable patients, at the discretion of their senior partner. In order to complete the first stage, they must complete all of their three driving evaluations, successfully pass the routing test and finish their orientation checklist, (which is a review of all policies and protocols).

In the second stage, the employee is allowed to attend on stable and some unstable patients, at the discretion of their senior partner. They must complete all of the county requirements and obtain three signatures from different senior partners who will verify that the employee is ready to move to the next stage.

In the third and final stage, the employee is allowed to attend on all patients, at the discretion of their senior partners. To complete this stage they must obtain three additional skills verification signatures from senior paramedics with whom they have worked.   Also, they must pass a written exam and complete an exit panel interview.  The panel consists of the Quality Improvement Supervisor and two senior paramedics.
