In a medical crisis, paramedics and
emergency medical technicians play a vital role.
To meet the demand for qualified EMS providers,
the Huron Valley Ambulance
Center for EMS Education is partnering with Jackson Community
College to provide instruction for emergency medical technician (EMT)
and paramedic students in the Jackson area. HVA and JCC are modeling
this venture on HVA’s successful 15-year partnership with Schoolcraft
College in Livonia.
The EMS field is growing. “There is a demand for qualified EMTs and
paramedics to work in EMS, fire departments, hospitals and private
industry,” states Shaun Pochik, HVA education manager. “JCC has done a
good job teaching EMTs and paramedics for many years and now we hope to
make their program even better.”
Anyone interested in a career in the exciting and important field of emergency medical services is invited to learn more at an Open House from1-4 p.m. Saturday, July 19 in Rooms 176 and 177, Justin Whiting Hall on the Jackson campus, 2111 Emmons Rd.
To celebrate their partnership, HVA and JCC are hosting the open house. Information on the programs will be available along with demonstrations of equipment that paramedics use in the field.
