Monroe Community Ambulance
(MCA) has been selected by the Monroe County Emergency Medical Authority to
provide paramedic ambulance service in the county. At their November
30th meeting, the MCEMA voted to negotiate an agreement with MCA to provide
county-wide services. MCA is an ambulance service partnership created by Mercy Memorial Hospital System, ProMedica Continuing Care Corporation, LifeStar Ambulance Company and Huron Valley Ambulance (HVA) for the purpose of providing EMS service in Monroe County. HVA is the managing partner. "Our organizations have come together to provide services to this county, because we have the unique ability to provide resources at peak times from the north, west and south", said Dale Berry, President and CEO of HVA. "Monroe has limited call volume, which limits the resources that can be based in the county", Berry continued. "But there are peak times, when more resources are definitely necessary and we have the ability to provide these from all directions". MCA will negotiate an agreement within the next 45 days and the company hopes to begin operation after the 1st of the year.
