| HVA begins operations in Monroe County | ||||
|
HVA has begun providing
paramedic ambulance service in northern Monroe County, for the Monroe County
Emergency Medical Authority (MCEMA). The MCEMA has been contracting
with ambulance services to handle the north and south sections of the county
since the failure of Hart EMS last March. The north half of the county
was being covered by American Medical Response, but they terminated their
90-day agreement recently. HVA is providing three paramedic units, which are stationed in Frenchtown Township, Ash Township and the Village of Dundee. The agreement is in place for a minimum of 90 days, or until the MCEMA selects a new county-wide provider or HVA gives 30-day notice. ProMedica Mobile Transport has been providing service to the south portion of the county since March. "The HVA Board of Trustees has authorized us to help our neighboring county out while they sort through their long term plans", said Dale Berry, President and CEO of HVA. "We are doing our best to provide service to them in the interim".
